Commodore is below the rank of Rear Admiral (RADM) while superior in rank to a Navy Captain (CAPT) and the ranks of Commander (CMDR), Lieutenant Commander (LCDR), Lieutenant (LT), Sub-Lieutenant (SBLT), Acting Sub-Lieutenant (SLT) and Midshipman (MIDN). The current Commodore serving
in the Royal Australian Navy is Commodore (CDRE) Bruce Kafer, AM, CSC, RAN.
