FLAG FITTINGS

Today these flag clips are most commonly used, they are also called sister clips. Made from high quality UV resistant nylon, they offer excellent durability and low halyard noise when hoisted. Simply attach one to each flag loop and two on the flagpoles rope via a basic hitch knot, connect together and hoist your flag. The tension between the flag and rope should be slightly loose, allowing flags to fly.     

Flag snap clips are used for simple fast flag hoisting, along with flags fitted with eyelets. These economical nylon snap clips offer excellent durability and low halyard noise when hoisted. Simply attach two clips to the flagpole's rope via a basic hitch knot and snap on to both flag loops, and hoist your flag. The tension between the flag and flag clips should be slightly loose allowing flags to fly easily.

Flag swivel clips made from durable UV resistant nylon, are the same as standard flag clips except that one clip has a unique swivel feature, thus reducing flagpole rope twisting and fatigue. Simply attach one standard flag clip to each flag loop and two swivel clips to the flagpoles rope via a basic hitch knot, then connect together and hoist your flag. The tension between the flags header and flagpoles rope should be slightly loose allowing flags to catch the breeze and easily fly. 

Flag screw lock clips, also called flag security shackels, are also made from high quality UV resistant nylon. Their purpose is to reduce the ease of flag removal from a flagpole halyard via a stainless steel screw, locking the shackle shut. Flags can be easily changed with the use of a special screw driver. Simply attach two screw lock clips to the flagpoles rope via a basic hitch knot, connect each flag loop and lock the clip shut via the screw & hoist your flag. The tension between the flags header and flagpoles rope should be slightly loose allowing flags to fly. 

Traditional metal or steel flag clips have been used for many years. They offer high strength and are commonly used in the restoration of period timber flagpoles or, as original replacement flag clips. Although this type of flag clip is very strong, eventually they rust and wear out. Metal flag clips have poor wear resistance & can leave flags marked with rust after rain. Simply attach one to each flag loop and two on the flagpoles rope via a basic hitch knot, connect together and hoist your flag. Tension between the flag and rope should be loose allowing flags to fly.

Stainless steel flag snap clips are used for fast interchangable flag hoistings, as well as flags fitted with eyelets. These highly durable clips are made from marine grade 316 stainless steel, which is the hardest most corossion resistant type of clip. Widely used by the Royal Australian Navy and yachting industry, they are ideal for flagpoles near coastal locations, or simply for their high strength and long life. Simply attach two clips to the flagpoles rope via a basic knot and snap on to both flag loops and hoist your flag. The tension between the flag and flag clips should be slightly loose allowing flags to catch the breeze and easily fly.

Stainless steel snap clips and rings made from 316 marine grade stainless which is the hardest most corossion resistant type of flag clip. Ideal for flagpoles near coastal locations, or simply for high strength and durable long life. Simply attach two clips to the flag and two rings to the flagpoles rope via, a basic hitch knot and snap on to rings and hoist your flag. The tension between the flag and flag clips should be slightly loose allowing flags to catch the breeze and easily fly. 

Stainless steel heavy duty flagpole rope shackle and ring, marine grade 316 used for flying large flags that require high strength attachment, along with added flag security by means of tightened shackles. Durable long life simply attach two rings to the flag loops and two shackles to the flagpoles rope via a basic hitch knot, connect the rings and hoist your flag. The tension between the flag and flag clips should be slightly loose allowing flags to catch the breeze and easily fly.

Firstly the most important factor regarding the life of any flagpole rope is to use the highest quality marine grade double braided polyester rope. This type of rope is super strong, naturally UV resistant, repels water and will out last any other. 

Top of picture shows a flagpole rope that has been joined using a flagpole rope joiner, also called a flagpole rope crimp or flagpole rope splice clip.

Middle of picture shows a heat shrink tube, used to cover any sharp edges that a rope splice clip may have, thus preventing wear to flagpole finishes and possible cuts to hands when hoisting and lowering your flags.

Directions: First make sure your flagpole rope is heat cut to your required length leave some extra, as most ropes shrink over time due to outdoor exposure, then slide a piece of heat shrink tube over one end of the rope before crimping.

Next place each end of the rope in the splice clip making sure that the ends of the rope are slightly pertruding and have been heat sealed by hot knife or lighter. Then, using pliers or multi grips, crimp the splice clip evenly down over each rope end completely with no gaps, so it will fit inside the heat shrink tube. 

Finally slide the heat shrink tube evenly over the crimped flagpole rope joiner and apply heat via a lighter, heat gun or butane gas torch. Make sure, as you heat it, to keep the tube turning as it starts to shrink down over the flagpole rope joiner. Do not apply any direct end flame to the shrink tube or flagpole rope, use heat from the side of the flame otherwise it can melt or discolour.
